Obituary – Manning, Ottis Oscar, 1978

Clinton Courier-News, April 6, 1978:

Manning, carpenter, dies at 44.  Ottis Oscar Manning, 44, of 111 Woodmont Circle, Clinton, died at 8 p.m. Friday at his home of cancer.

He was a carpenter employed by Evans Contracting Co., Inc. of South Clinton.  He had served in the Army.

Manning enjoyed fishing and working in his yard.  He was a native of Clinton and son of Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Manning, who survive.

Other survivors include his wife, Mrs. Betty L. Manning; two sons Ottis Earl Manning of Oak Ridge and Darrell Lynn Manning of Clinton; two stepdaughters, Miss Tracy Johnson of Clinton and Mrs. Steven (Reta) Corey of Knoxville; a stepson Brad Johnson of Clinton; two sisters, Mrs. Wayne (Faye) Taylor of Clinton and Mrs. Carlos (Alma Ruth) Taylor of Kodak; and two brothers, Charles Manning of Clinton and Robert Manning of Oliver Springs.

Funeral services were held Sunday at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. William Thomas and the Rev. Samuel Condon officiating.  Burial was in Sunset Cemetery.
