Obituary of Arnold Esco Armstrong, 1984:

Cancer claims former miner.  A former miner, Arnold Esco Armstrong, 67, of Lake City Rt. 2 died Feb. 3 at 2 p.m.  The Beech Grove native had been in the hospital since Dec. 17 with cancer.

Armstrong was of the Baptist faith.  He had been a member of the United Mine Workers of America, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Coal Creek Lodge 494 and Coal Creek Chapter 226 of the Order of the Eastern Star.  Carpentry was a hobby he enjoyed.

He is survived by a son, William of Lake City; sisters, Mrs. Beulah Johnson and Mrs. Berdie Marlow of Lake City; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday at Pine Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Larry Watts and Mack Smith officiating.  Burial was in Beech Grove Cemetery.
