“Rock of Ages”

William B. Anderson, son of James Anderson and Elizabeth (Smoot?), was born in Warren Co. TN. He served as a Private in Co. G, 35th Tennessee Infantry Regiment, CSA. He married Nancy Hammer, daughter of Asahel Rains Hammer and his wife Elizabeth Ann Swope. William and Nancy had 7 children. William died in 1873, the same year his last child was born. William is buried in French Cemetery in Warren Co. TN. Nancy later remarried, to Jesse Hulett, on 12 Nov 1882, in Warren Co TN.

Photocopies of the Bible family pages were supplied by Velma Chipley of Athens Texas, however no title page of the Bible was supplied. There are two styles of handwriting of the entries. The earliest entries are of better quality.

MARRIAGES

BIRTHS
DEATHS

The quilt near the top of this page was made by Olive “Ollie” Melton, wife of Daniel Smoot Anderson. She made the quilt in our Warren County. They brought the quilt to Texas in their covered wagon. Daniel S. Anderson is a brother to William Anderson, original owner of the above Bible. Daniel’s g-g-granddaughter, Ann Melugin Williams, supplied her photograph of her Anderson family quilt. She wanted us all to share a little bit of old Warren.
Thanks Ann.
