Crystal Community is an early settlement in District Three of Obion County about 3 or 4 miles north of Fremont and about half way between Union City and Hickman KY. On the district map the name, Crystal, lies in the southwest corner of District Two with the road to Hickman forming a line between the districts for less than a quarter of a mile. Ed and John Kersey, sons of Hiram T. Kersey, operated the general store for forty-six years. Civil War veteran Dr. F. M. McRee practiced medicine and had interests in or operated a general store, sawmill and cotton Gin. And Dr. Ras Williams spent his entire career practicing medicine here. Jack Freeman operated a wagon and blacksmith shop for about five years after the Civil War and other smiths were Thomas H. Park and J. N. Huff. H. B. Stiles had a saw mill operation and N. B. Fluty was a farmer. Capt. T. B. Underwood reared his children here and taught school. Churches near Crystal: Mt. Olive, Antioch, and Cumberland Presbyterian. D. E. Park was an elder of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of fifty years and Dr. McRee was a member. Ministers there from time to time were E. D. Farris, Jo McLeskey, George McIlwain and Rev. Dunnigan.
