Mt Zion CME (Christian Methodist Episcopal) Church is in the Orysa Community in Lauderdale County TN. It is located on Durhamville Road near the end. If you take Hwy 87/Henning Orysa Road from the Police Station in Henning, TN and travel until you see Durhamville Road on your left. Make the left on to Durhamville Road then travel a short distance until you see the church on the right. It is an African American Church. The cemetery is right beside the church. Note all Census information I added in the "Relationship / Notes" column, and some dates and other information. All information is subject to correction. Children in the census are Evalena (daughter), Ongele (son), Oneater (daughter), Virtea (son), Ottie (son). At this time they had been married for 10 years. All of them are born in TN and JP is renting his farm. They married in Lauderdale County TN in 1890. Her maiden name is Hazle. In the 1880 Lauderdale County Census District 1, she is listed with Jackson and Kissie Hasel as the step daughter. Jackson is much older than Kissie by 21 years. They have one son together Ernest and he is 4. It states that Cora, Jackson, and Kissie are born in NC and Ernest in TN. Jackson Hazle married Kissey Minearel or Minnard in Haywood County, TN on November 24, 1874.    |
