FINCHER

I am looking for information on Joseph Clark FINCHER b. abt 1837 in N.C. and came to Henderson Co., Tn between 1870 & 1880. By 1880 he was married to Martha Diffee, apparently a widow who had children Willie Diffee and Cora Diffee. FINCHER was postmaster of Luray, Tn before 1897 and died before that year. He is probably buried around the Luray area. His first wife was Rachel Elizabeth Stevens from N.C. She may have died in N.C. before he came to Tn. Any help would be appreciated.

Need a marriage record for BRANSON BOOKOUT and MARY W. "POLLY" RHODES. They were married about 1829/30. He was in Henderson Co. Tn. as early as 1828 where he was mentioned in a list of letters left at the post office at Lexinton. The 1830 Henderson Co. census shows a Ransom Bookout which I believe to be Branson. I am assuming they were married in Henderson County. "Polly" is said to be the daughter of James B. and Nancy RHODES. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

FLOWERS, Benjamin. In Henderson Co. in 1880 Census. 4th District age 58. Born in NC. Son of Michael and Mary Keen FLOWERS. 1880 Census shows wife and 8 children. Also says he was unemployed for 12 months of the census year. I believe he had been hurt in saw- mill accident and later died as result. Looking for burial site, date of death and any other information. He bought land in 1878 from Hosea PRESLAR, who I have learned was a Baptist preacher and who is buried in Preslar Cemetery south of Lexington 9 miles.

I am seeking info on Elizabeth Jane WHEAT (WHITE ?) who married Ras Berry JONES, son of John & Beadie JONES and brother to Archibald JONES. I am fairly confident that Elizabeth's surname is WHEAT. I would be interested in any ino on WHEAT families in the area. There is a possibility that the family has some Indian ties.

McGill. Seeking information on the parents of Peterson McGill, Eli Taylor McGill, Isaac McGill and Joel McGill. These individuals would appear to be brothers, based upon a series of land transactions between them conducted in the late 1840's in Giles County. Peterson lived his entire life in the Giles County vicinity. In the 1840-1880 census records, he was living in the following counties: Lawrence(TN), Limestone(AL), Limestone(AL), Giles(TN) and Lauderdale(AL). Peterson was married four times: th Mahala LONG of Giles Co.; to Oda MARBUT of Giles County; to Sarah Sherwood of Giles Co., and to Catherine Daly of Limestone Co. He had 17 children between 1836 and 1878, the oldest of whom was Robert McGill, who married Laura ? in Giles Co. in the late 1850's. Eli Taylor McGill was living in the Gaston Hollow area of Limestone County in 1849, at which time he married a Sarah MEALS. Eli McGill and Isaac McGill had moved to West Tennessee (Henderson-Carroll Co. areas) by the 1850 census. No mention of Joel has been found in census records. Peterson McGill, who was born abt. 1816 in TN, said his parents were from Alabama- only there was no Alabama prior to 1818.... Any help in solving this mystery would be most appreciated. I have numerous decendents of Peterson, plus a 40+ page document relating to Eli which I can share. THANKS!
