LINKS

This page is for links to other Cherokee and Native American pages plus other genealogy related sites which will be helpful. I will be adding more links so check back often.

General Native American Websites:

Native American Genealogy - This is Barbara Benge's website with links to a lot of Native American websites.  You will also find specific pages for Cherokees. It's a really great site.

Ken Martin's History of Cherokee - Ken's pages are wonderful. Be sure to check his maps of the Old Cherokee Nation.

Guide to Discovering Your Cherokee Ancestors - Yanusdi Cox's pages on Cherokee genealogy. Yanusdi has quite a list of 18th century records to check - very, very helpful.

Tribal Enrollment Requirements

NC Reservation Genealogy - Sources & References A list of all of the Cherokee Rolls, both east and west.

Basic Geneaology sites to help you get started in genealogy:

Beginning Research A very good place to begin.  Topics include where to begin, computer age genealogy, charts, etc.

Genealogical Research at the National Archives The National Archives Genealogy Page has a lot of information about getting started and the records you will need to use.

How the Soundex Indexing System works Learn to use Soundex - the coding system used to locate your ancestors on census records from 1880 forward.
